His honors include elevation to The College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects; recipient of the Thomas U. Walter Award, one of the highest honors bestowed by AIA Philadelphia; twice recipient of the President’s Medal from AIA Pennsylvania, and election to the Carpenters Company of the City and County of Philadelphia, the oldest extant craft guild in America (1724). These honors culminate decades of service to the profession and outside the profession in numerous local, state, regional, and national leadership positions. Currently he serves as AIA Pennsylvania Committee on Design Chair and Chair of the AIA Pennsylvania Excellence in Design and Special Awards Programs. Additionally, Bob is co-founder and Advisor of The Stonewall Inn Gives Back Initiative (SIGBI), the official charitable giving 501c3 of The Stonewall Inn, Stonewall National Monument, “serving the needs of LGBTQ+ youth throughout the United States.”

Robert Kelly, FAIA, IDSA, is an accomplished architect, designer, and recognized leader. Over decades as President and Director of Design of a substantial architectural practice he amassed an extraordinarily broad and deep portfolio of projects each sharing an undercurrent of inventiveness, advocacy and public good.

Bob Kelly began his career in architecture earning a BA in Architecture from Clemson University followed by an MA in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. His current professional ventures are centered on design, design research; and, service to the profession of architecture and the communities it serves. He is founder of ideeDesignworks -“an idea workshop.”
